Coty Launches 100 Per Cent CarbonSmart™ Based Fragrance for Gucci
The beauty world continues to innovate, with Coty launching the first globally distributed fragrance manufactured using 100 per cent Carbon-Captured alcohol, by way of the Where My Heart Beats Eau De Parfum for Gucci’s The Alchemist’s Garden collection.
The fragrance importantly uses alcohol from 100 per cent recycled carbon emissions, thanks to the use of the innovative, CarbonSmart™ alcohol from Coty’s partner LanzaTech, which it partnered with in March 2021. The modern system captures carbon from industrial emissions and transforms it into alcohol for use in fine fragrances. Coty has used carbon-captured alcohol into its fragrances using a mass balance methodology since January 2022, merging traditional alcohol with these developments for over a year. This new launch segregates the supply of carbon-captured alcohol to become the first globally distributed fragrance on the market which is manufactured using 100 per cent carbon-captured alcohol.

This launch and broader partnership with LanzaTech recycles carbon emissions that would usually be released into the atmosphere, while also using less water and reducing the need for agricultural land compared to traditional methods of alcohol production to reduce the beauty industry’s environmental footprint. Coty’s environmental sensibilities, with other innovations including its first refillable fragrance, Chloé Rose Naturelle Intense Eau de Parfum, showcase its commitment to the cause.
