AFW 24: Davroe and Shark Beauty X Mariam Seddiq

Mariam Seddiq walked the familiar runways of Fashion Week in their eighth year, presenting the Chroma collection at the Clarence Vault Rooms heritage building in Sydney. Hair Director Madison Voloshin led the team backstage for fellow Australian label Davroe, with styling by Shark Beauty tools.

The fashion collection was inspired by chrome and the dynamic flow of molten metals in an Avant Garde showcase caught between a gritty dystopian landscape and the sleek allure of that inspirational chrome. The 20-piece collection highlighted the fashion brand’s iconic signature sculptural forms, micro mini skirts, ultra-thin bandeaus and recycled leathers, as well as sheer draping, twisted sculpted silhouettes and low cuts. A futuristic aesthetic was taken into the conceptual with models’ fingers painted in obsidian black.

The hair look encapsulated this essence with styling that crafted hair into edgy, punk-inspired black pixie cuts for all the models, within a choppy, grungy style with plenty of texture. This was managed by fitting the models in fitted, uniform wigs that had been carefully and consistently cut.

Hero products backstage included the brand’s Body Volume Texture, Formation, Construct, Complete, Fabricate, and Tame Detangler to ensure a well-fitted wig wrap was achieved and to completely flatten the hair to properly fit and secure the wigs.

Mariam Seddiq is committed to Australian-made, ethical, mindful and sustainable values, with unique, one-of-a-kind and bespoke pieces crafted in Sydney. The designer utilises off cuts in new creations or shares them with other designers so that no fabric goes to waste, supporting the ethos of slow fashion.
