Merz Aesthetics Opens New North America Research & Development Innovation Centre
This cutting-edge facility is set to be a hub for groundbreaking research and product development, bringing exciting advancements to the field of aesthetics.
Merz Aesthetics, one of the world’s leading medical aesthetics companies, has opened a brand-new Research & Development Innovation Center (RDIC) in Raleigh, North Carolina, which also doubles as the company’s global headquarters.
The RDIC, North America, is designed to support collaboration across all R&D teams and drive innovation for Merz Aesthetics’ growing range of products. “With a strong R&D pipeline, we’re dedicated to developing high-quality, safe, and effective treatments,” said Bob Rhatigan, CEO of Merz Aesthetics. “This new center will help us deliver meaningful innovations for our customers and their patients.”
The new facility complements Merz Aesthetics’ existing RDIC in Frankfurt, Germany. While the Frankfurt center focuses on dermal fillers, the North Carolina RDIC is home to a state-of-the-art Energy-Based Device (EBD) lab. This lab will support the ongoing development of Ultherapy®, a popular non-surgical treatment for lifting and tightening the skin, and drive further research into energy-based technologies.
Dr. Samantha Kerr, Chief Scientific Officer at Merz Aesthetics, added, “The opening of our North American RDIC is the result of two years of thoughtful planning, and we’re excited to welcome the local community and global industry partners to this space.”
‘The RDIC is a hub where creative minds from the Merz Aesthetics R&D team will come together to tackle challenges and develop groundbreaking solutions. It’s a space where experimentation, collaboration and cutting-edge technologies converge to drive forward-thinking research and development initiatives. Customers and patients across Australia and New Zealand can be excited knowing that Merz Aesthetics is at the forefront of modern aesthetics and are eager to bring new technologies and treatments to our shores.’
Jeannine Hill, Merz Aesthetics Associate Vice President, Australia and New Zealand
The facility includes a variety of specialised labs—wet, mechanical, electronic, acoustic, and software—to provide space and equipment for innovative research. It will also host events and provide access to leading experts and healthcare professionals in the field.
With this new center, Merz Aesthetics is continuing its mission to advance the science of beauty and deliver cutting-edge treatments that help patients look and feel their best.
