Rejuvaus Shares Why You Should Consider A ‘Zinc Rethink’ With New Sunscreen
High-performance Australian skincare brand, Rejuvaus, recently hosted a brunch to celebrate the relaunch of its iSolar Protect & Restore Invisible Zinc Lotion.
The sunny late-October morning saw media and influencers gather at Oxford House Pool Bar in Sydney to learn why the brand reformulated this product. Guests met with the brand’s Founder and CEO, Dr Garry Cussell (who is also the Cosmetic Physician and CEO of Rejuvenation Clinics of Australia).
During the event, guests were treated to an exclusive preview of a new product due to launch in 2025, showcased with a lip bar by makeup artist, Peter Beard. Attendees also enjoyed an instant glow boost with a facial spray tan by Lily Elkhouri (Tanning Angel).
After guests mingled over charcuterie, smoothies, and mimosas, Dr Cussell discussed what prompted the reformulation of iSolar Protect & Restore Invisible Zinc Lotion. He noted that Rejuvaus was introduced to natural cellulose, an ingredient used to enhance the formula’s UV protective properties and help improve skin texture.
Dr Cussell later shared further insights with PB about why this product is “the main post-treatment lotion” used in his clinics:
“Most sunscreens have many occlusive and blocking fillers, petrochemicals, skin irritants -[…] those are the worst types of ingredients to apply to an inflamed skin after a laser or chemical peel treatment,” he explained. “On the contrary, we apply iSolar Protect & Restore Invisible Zinc Lotion immediately after a laser treatment or chemical peel in every case. It has 20 ingredients that are all extremely effective, non-occlusive, soothing and calming; also, anti-inflammatory and anti-infective. These are all the attributes needed to improve the results and healing time after any treatment.”
Rejuvaus iSolar Protect & Restore Invisible Zinc Lotion boasts an impressive ingredient list of over 20 active ingredients to deliver environmental and UV protection, antioxidative effects, and pigment-inhibiting action. This formula also contains pre- and post-biotics, anti-inflammatories, and barrier reparative ingredients.
Although this formula contains two inorganic UV filters (non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), Rejuvaus decided to forgo the TGA approval process to become listed as a sunscreen. According to the brand, “we’d have to remove many of the advanced skin-enhancing ingredients that make our formula truly effective to achieve an SPF rating.”
Differing from many formulas that include zinc oxide, it feels lightweight and silky, and leaves no visible white cast. It has a slightly mattifying yet hydrating finish that’s suitable for all skin types, and it conveniently doubles as a makeup primer.
