Dario Chicco Celebrates 60 Years in Hair
Australian hairdresser Dario Chicco is celebrating an impressive six decades in the hair industry in 2025. His extensive hairdressing career has seen him cut the hair of the stars, including such big names as the band members of the Rolling Stones, as well as Santana, next to other collaborations with actors, models, writers, musicians, artists and designers. Through all of that, his client work remained his biggest pride and achievement.
“Listening to why my clients come to me is my biggest achievement,” he said. “Being consistent and looking after your clients is my biggest tip to a long and successful career in hair. I’ve had clients from the 80s from back when I first arrived in Sydney.”
Dario’s commitment to hair is evident and he has no plans of ever retiring. He tells the story of suffering a cardiac arrest in 2014 and coming back after a miraculous 42 minutes. This incident has only furthered his passion for doing what he loves as long as he can do it, and his salon in Paddington continues to thrive. Dario’s career is predicated on skills such as dry cutting and tailoring the haircuts to the clients for a truly bespoke cut.
Hair cutting is Dario’s bread and butter and he says that the art of the cut was most prevalent in the 70s and 80s, before products and treatments became more of a focus. His advice to other hairdressers after sixty years in hair and as a hair cutting specialist is to find your passion and special interest and invest in that.
Congratulations to Dario on 60 years in hair!
