Kicking off on the first day of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, Viktoria & Woods and Goldwell took over The Cove at The Rocks to present SOLAR, with two hair looks led by legendary hairdresser Shane Henning. The iconic brand debuted their first ever Fashion Week show in the off-site locale as a presentation of classic luxury, with Goldwell’s new StyleSign collection, launched in March, proving pivotal backstage.

The collection was inspired by the vibrant palette of the Australian summer and the tonal shifts of light and colour in the landscape, in a collection tailored to offer comfort and ease for social occasions.

The StyleSign collection is proudly vegan, PETA approved and climate neutral, with the power of Marine Bamboo technology driving the 23-product group.

Complementing the collection, Shane and the team created the Sea Swept Hair and Natural Movement with curls and waves looks for the show.

“We wanted to create hair that wasn’t too feminine or perfect,” Shane said. “Sea Swept hair is little edgy and lived in. The new Goldwell StyleSign Lagoom Jam was painted on to the hair then raked through. With the lengths finished with my new go-to StyleSign Weightless Shine Oil. In contrast the second look was a dry, matte finish enhancing the natural texture of each model’s hair. We started with StyleSign Air Dry BB Cream diffused into the hair and set with StyleSign Dry Texture Spray”.

Look 1: Sea Swept Hair

• Step 1: Apply Goldwell StyleSign Every Day Blow Dry Spray and blow dry hair away from the face. The finish is to be natural rather than perfect, so no straighteners used of any kind.
• Step 2 Apply Goldwell StyleSign Bodifying Control Mousse or StyleSign Lagoom Jam to the top and sides. Lagoon Jam is painted on with a brush to keep the distribution light and workable. Comb the product into the hair naturally (as if fingers have swept hair back) and then gently rake the hair with fingers for slight separation. Pin hair into place to dry. The sides should curve down behind the ear with no sharp lines, following the natural fall of the hair.
• Step 3 Diffuse the top and sides to dry and set. Finish with Goldwell StyleSign Weightless Shine Oil through lengths for natural shine. Hair should have a gritty/wet finish.

Look 2: Natural Movement – for Wavy Hair

• Step 1: Wet hair and comb through with wide tooth comb. Apply Goldwell StyleSign Air-Dy BB Cream throughout all hair. Flat diffuse hair to avoid frizziness, creating minimal disturbance to the natural wave. It’s important not to over-expand the hair during drying. Part hair in the middle.
• Step 2 Apply Goldwell StyleSign Dry Texture Spray to set.

Look 2: Natural Movement for Curly Hair

• Step 1: Working to the natural curl of the hair. Enhance the hair for a more polished look using either Goldwell StyleSign Curl Defining Cream or Goldwell StyleSign Bundling Gel. The final finish should be dry, not frizzy.
