AAFW 23: O&M X Caroline Reznik

AAFW 23: O&M X Caroline Reznik

The final night of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week showcased Caroline Reznik’s Resort ’24 collection, with O&M and Mary Alamine creating a veil-like fringe as combined with a wet look as a memorable aesthetic for the show.

“I’m so thrilled to be directing the hair for Caroline Reznik for AAFW using my all-time favourite styling range from O&M,” Mary said. “The first look has a ‘veil’ like fringe coming forward and covering the eyes and the rest of the hair has a wet and combed outlook. For the second look the hair is moulded down and around the head bringing pieces of hair forward onto the high points of the face.”

“The inspiration behind the look is to channel that feminine energy, she’s rebellious, wild and fierce, so we’re going with that gritty texture, it’s almost a bit dirty, it’s a lived-in texture,” she continued.

The brand’s Rootalicious Root Lift Spray, Surf Bomb Sea Spray and W-Spray Dry Wax Spray were hero products. The show incorporated contemporary dancers as well as models, who had their hair flipped away from their face, with a middle-part style swept over the ears, as pinned down and embellished with black bobby pins. Pins in the hair across the show complemented the metallic accents of the collection.

Over the trial process, Mary and Carolyn worked to ideally complement the feminine collection.

“The collection is a wake-up call, a statement evoking emotive stillness in its presentation and one that is explored through an identity that reveals fragility within our brutalist society,” Caroline said. “The hair represents the feminine energy that is rebellious and wild. She represents what it means to belong in a world that is seeking peace and equality. The vision for hair direction was about the idea of animal markings and creating a veil that would hide the visibility of who the wearer is.”

“The synergy between the Brand’s DNA and storytelling unites a dance between upholding the main characters, explored through emotive power and human instinct,” she continued. “Throughout our trial, Mary Alamine, O&M, myself and team created a synergy throughout the process and developed a key look that would heighten the reveal of the collection as well as mimic the textile process within my work that is pre-existing.”
