AAFW: ghd X Aje

Sophisticated and organic was the hair brief for ghd and Aje early morning on the second morning of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2023. The fashion house presented Element, their Resort 24 show, as styled by ghd and hair director Pauline McCabe, with a distinct polished elegance as anchored in natural texture.

The looks were built with a suite of ghd tools including the all-new duet style, helios blow dryer with diffuser, soft curl tong and the classic tong alongside ghd hair styling products such as root lift spray for control, soft volume and texture, rehab advanced split-end therapy for nourished hair and a light spray of shiny ever after final shine spray for a natural, polished finish.

“ghd is thrilled to continue our partnership with AAFW for 2023. AAFW shares our commitment to creativity and innovation, to create flawless hair styles that inspire confidence in professional stylists and consumers. We are excited to create artistic looks that hero ghd’s new duet style 2-in-1 hot air styler, through the hands of our professional stylist team and inspired by beloved established and emerging Australian fashion brands,” said Ludovic Dellazzeri, Managing Director at ghd.

The hair team worked with the organic texture of each model’s hair, and created a look where the hair was subtly slicked back, sleek and swept off the face. The look had a contrasting textural finish with a polish that gave edge to the styling, reflecting the Aje collection elements.

Get the look:

  • STEP 1: Apply ghd pick me up root lift spray, section by section throughout the hair to create subtle volume and texture.
  • STEP 2: Using a ghd paddle brush and helios hair dryer, activate the product by directionally blow-drying the hair, flattening it at the sides and keeping volume through the top by using the brush to lift the root area.
  • STEP 3: Once the hair is subtly combed all off the face, spray perfect ending final fix hairspray into the temple area and secure with flat pins (optional to add a card) and set by drying with ghd Helios and diffuser attachment.
  • STEP 4: At the back of the hair, take 2 cm sections and create natural and imperfect waves by alternating ghd duet style in shine shot mode and the ghd curve tongs. With ghd duet style, create one section with a ‘ghd push-down curl’ for a loose wave. For the next section use ghd curve soft curl tong (for long hair) or ghd classic curl tong (for shorter hair), making sure all ends are pointing downwards.
  • STEP 5: Using ghd sleek talker, caress each curl with a flat palm motion to create smoothness and shine. Using the ghd dressing comb, lightly dress out the waves.
  • STEP 6: Finish the style by applying ghd perfect ending – final fix hairspray to create texture and hold.
