AFW 24: Redken X Iordanes Spyridon Gogos
Redken complemented possibly the most Avant Garde runway show at Australian Fashion Week, pairing vivid, textural hair garments with bona fide hair sculptures, courtesy of hair legend Richard Kavanagh.
Trojan horse sculptures atop heads acted as hero looks, building on the theme of ‘Chapter Four: The Woven Trojan Horse’. On a colourful runway courtesy of s designer rug partnership, with painted faces and wearable pieces of art, the hair looks contributed to fashion at its most creative.
“For Iordanes Spyridon Gogos, the looks were inspired by the shapes, textures and colours he referenced in his designs,” Richard explained. “Jordan collaborates with artists from multiple mediums and the show was really a showcase of art, creation, naivety and playfulness.”
“Looks ranged from glassy, high shine luxe hair embellished with gold strands to palm tree ponytails constructed from hair to graphic cubic and semi sphere wigs with abstract negative space floating down the runway,” he continued. “We even created a massive Mohawk and some Mohawks in the shape of Trojan horses.”
Key products backstage included the Max Hold Hairspray and Hot Sets 22 High Hold Thermal Spray, paired with what Richard describes as “lots of imagination”.
