New Zealand’s wellness landscape is having a moment on the world stage. At this year’s Asia Pacific Spa & Wellness Awards, held on the Gold Coast, several Kiwi destinations were recognised among the region’s best for their innovation, authenticity, and deep connection to nature.

Now in its 2025 edition, the annual awards honour excellence across six key categories – Spa, Beauty, Wellness, Travel, People, and the publicly voted People’s Choice Awards.

Off the back of recently winning Best Wellness Retreat at the World Spa Awards, Aro Ha once again proved why it’s internationally revered, taking home Best Wellness Retreat or Resort in the Wellness category. In the People’s Choice category, Aro Ha also claimed top honours for Best Wellness Program with its Seasonal Renew offering — a multi-day immersion designed to reset body and mind in rhythm with nature. These wins cement the Glenorchy-based retreat’s reputation as a world-class destination for transformation, mindfulness, and sustainable luxury. 

Rotorua’s Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa received the Most Unique Property award in the Travel category, recognised for its authentic celebration of Ngāti Whakaue culture and centuries-old Māori healing traditions.

The award underscores the growing global appreciation for indigenous wellness practices rooted in cultural storytelling and connection to place. Wai Ariki was also named runner-up for Best Tourism Wellness-Focused Attraction in the same category.

Another standout moment for Aotearoa came as Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa was named People’s Choice: Best Mineral or Hot Spring. The South Island icon has long been synonymous with relaxation and rejuvenation, and this recognition reflects its continued investment in modern facilities while preserving the natural thermal heritage that defines the experience.

Across the Tasman, winners included Aurora Bathhouse & Spa (Best Spa in Australasia), Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat (Best Integrative Wellness Retreat and Eco Retreat), and BODHI Spa Group (Best Urban Spa and Best Day Spa), among others — highlighting the strength and diversity of wellness across the wider region.

Global leader in medical and aesthetic technology BTL was recognised for its contribution to the future of wellness innovation, taking home three major awards:

• Best Wellness Device – Exomind™
