Davines unveil the Coastline Reflect campaign
Welcome the Coastline Reflect campaign from Davines, which offers four inspiring new colour looks as built by the feature product, Dry Wax Finishing Spray, and led by Davines Hair Art Director Tom Connell. The campaign is inspired by the colour palette of the sea and its surrounding areas, including the impact of metallic reflections, as each complemented by two specific styles.
“Coastline Reflects is all about capturing the essence of the sea and its surroundings in a relaxed yet captivating way,” Tom shared. “We’re drawing inspiration from the stunning color palette you find along the coastline – think rust-colored rocks, whitewashed stones, bronze sand, and those pearlescent, shimmering reflections on the water.”
“We’ve crafted four distinct looks, each with its own personality, and we’re presenting them in two variations, but what really sets Coastline Reflects apart is how we’re embracing hair’s natural beauty and letting the sunlight work its magic to enhance those hues and styles. It’s about celebrating what makes each strand unique and bringing that to life in a laid-back, effortless way.”
In showcasing the synergy between colour and styling, the collection presents bold new colour application techniques, titled ‘freemapping’ and ‘freescaping’, using the new Davines Colour Blending Brush. The looks begin with Brushed Bronze, which is a rich copper that offers personalised highlights with exceptional depth, as styled in defined relaxed curls and natural curls. Shimmer Blend incorporates cascading blonde tones with both warm and cool metallic tones, as dynamically complemented by a glass blow dry and undone waves. The Metallic Frame look takes a collarbone-length cut with a fringe inspired by the iconic Jane Birkin, with free-mapping techniques that add extra dimension by strategically placing metallic tones. This is paired with a relaxed knot and texture frame with undone, matte movement. Lastly, the Metallic Anti-Frame look elevates the face frame concept, with a natural multi-tonal blonde on an Italian mid-length bob complemented by a natural shade of medium blonde, as built with subtle flashes of metallic blonde tones, strategically hidden away from the face. An easy smooth back style and volume building blow dry define the look.
“My favourite look from the Coastline Reflects collection would have to be the Anti Frame, the classic Italian bob felt like the perfect choice for a shoot on the Italian Riviera,” Tom shared. “This served as a canvas for a muted sandy tone with a hidden flash of blonde behind the ear. What I like most about this is the wearer’s ability to choose to reveal or not the lighter colour, this idea of multiple styles in one that alter with the change of a parting is something I look in a look.”
The collection was created with products from the MORE INSIDE product line, where tools such as the MORE INSIDE Invisible Serum, Shimmering Mist, Curl Building Serum, OI Oil, Relaxing Moisturising Fluid, Blow Dry Primer, Texturizing Dust and Texturizing Serum helped create the looks. Within this, the newly curated Dry Wax Texturizing Spray was a hero product.
“Each styling variation in the Coastline Reflects campaign has been carefully crafted using products from our MORE INSIDE product line. This range is known for its versatility and ability to cater to a wide range of styling needs,” Tom shared. “The new More Inside Dry Wax Texturizing spray gave each look definition and hold but due to its lightweight formula can be removed by simply running your fingers through the hair, it was key in multiple looks during this shooting.”
“We’re excited to introduce the latest addition to this line, the Dry Wax Finishing Spray created and developed in collaboration with myself. This unique finishing spray effortlessly creates instant, undone waves, giving hair a natural and relaxed look. Not only does it provide definition and dimension, but it also leaves a satin-matte finish that adds to the overall aesthetic.”
With Tom’s hair direction complemented by colour from Ashleigh Hodges and Nadina Thelen Ray, photography by Jon Gorrigan and Raffaele Grosso, styling by Rubina Marchiori, makeup by Alessia Stefano and videography by James Cox and Lorenzo Franzoni, this new campaign inspires trends in both colour and style.
“For me, the trend in this collection is all about personalisation and embracing uniqueness by tailoring techniques to complement and enhance the individual’s natural features and personality,” Tom said. “With the Coastline Reflects collection we’re drawing inspiration from the natural beauty around us and translating that into unique and personalised looks for each individual. It’s about celebrating what makes each person special and creating looks that reflect that.”
