Enter the Schwarzkopf Professional Colour Crafter Competition
Schwarzkopf Professional have unveiled their latest competition, titled the Colour Crafter competition, which is open for entries as of August 1. The competition is open to all hairdressers and apprentices in the hope of engaging both brand artists and new salons and inspiring the industry broadly. Entries close on September 30, with the finalists announced on October 17 and the winners announced on October 24.
“The stage is set, the challenge awaits — are you ready to leave your mark? Calling all stylists to showcase their unparalleled talent, craft, and skill in a single, captivating shot, inspired by Essential Looks,” the brand shared.
The competition supports and mentors hairdressers looking to elevate their skills, builds creative opportunities for hairdressers and inspires practically with the Essential Looks 1.2024 collection. Entrants are tasked with creating one shot that shows off their talent and is inspired by this global collection, while also showing off the Schwarzkopf Professional colour and styling portfolio in top-tier techniques and talent.
The competition is open to all hairdressers but must use Schwarzkopf Professional products, including Igora Royal, Vibrance, Zero Amm, BLONDME in colour and Osis+ and Session Label for style. Students and apprentices will automatically be entered into the Apprentice Crafter Award contingent of the competition. Individual participants can enter multiple times and there is no limit to salon staff entries.
Entries must consist of a before and after shot of the model’s head and shoulders, as well as a full-length total look image, in portrait and on a plain background. The images must use a real model, not a mannequin, and focus on the hair. Entrants must avoid overusing filters, which cannot be used to enhance or manipulate the hair.
The competition is simple to enter and phone photographs are both accepted and encouraged. Images and entry form can be easily submitted online.
Entrants are advised to create a hair cut that suits the model and showcases skill and craftmanship, with professional colour that complements the look, styling mastery, excellent finishing skills and makeup and fashion styling that ties it all together.
Judges will seek out craftmanship and new and inspiring creative ideas, as well as a beautiful end result. Colour will comprise 70 per cent of the judging criteria, while style will cover 20 per cent, the cut will be five per cent and the total look will account for five per cent as well. Five National Apprentice Crafter and five National Colour Crafter finalists will be chosen, before a winner is chosen in each category.
The National Colour Crafter winner will receive a full one day mentoring session with Schwarzkopf Professional ambassadors and leading hairdressers Dee Parker Attwood, Jason Fassbender and Jennifer Morgan, as well as editorial coverage, a complimentary invitation to brand seminars found in the 2025 Education Brochure over 12 months throughout 2025 to the value of $1,000 and a CREATIVE COLLECTIVE Invitation to the SKP Styling Team. The covetable total prize is valued at $12,000.

Take this opportunity to be inspired by Essential Looks and inspire in your own right and there could be a prize at the end of it. The Schwarzkopf Professional Colour Crafter Competition is now on… go!
