Here’s how you can get the most out of your laser devices

Whilst you may be tempted to purchase an entirely new device for your business, have you considered the maximum potential of what your current devices can offer? Especially your laser devices?

From Alexandrite lasers to Nd:YAG, long-pulse to short-pulse devices (or even devices that contain both), each device has their own unique purpose and function. Firstly, we suggest to always refer to your manufacturers operational guide and also your insurance to ensure any new treatments or variations to treatments are covered, but here is how to get a bit more ‘creative’ with your existing laser devices:

Creating a Signature or Bespoke Facial

Considering ‘minimal-to-no downtime’, correct selection of clients and their suitability for treatment, offering a signature or bespoke facial as a part of your business can allow you to increase your staff KPI’s as well as get the most out of your devices. You may even consider offering an express signature or express bespoke facial for those with busier work schedules or for those with children who are limited for time. This can include the likes of (in no particular order):

  • Microdermabrasion / Hydradermabrasion
  • LED Light Therapy or Broad Band Light (BBL)
  • Laser rejuvenation protocol (‘Laser Genesis’ if you own a Cutera device or similar with a 1064nm Nd:YAG)
  • Light chemical peel / Enzyme peel

If you possess both a long and short pulse laser, this can be altered to include this in your protocol, and some methods of exfoliation may be excluded or replaced depending on your clients’ skin presentation.

Laser-Assisted Drug Delivery

Using certain lasers such as Q-Switch Nd:YAG or Erbium Nd:YAG on a fractional setting can aid in creating channels within skin tissue to apply certain specific skincare products or ingredients to enhance absorption. Be careful however, as some products are formulated specifically to be used on intact epithelial tissue, so best to engage with both your Laser company and skincare company representatives.

Laser Toning

Got a Q-Switch Nd:YAG that you use for tattoo removal or carbon facials? Try incorporating protocols that use low fluence (joules) from your Q-Switch to improve visible hyperpigmentation. Combine this with topical pigment inhibitors, and you’ve got yourself a laser-based pigment protocol! You may also consider adding on an optional ‘spot treatment’ for individual pigmented lesions, but ensure they have been cleared for removal by a medical professional.
