LoveBeauty Skin Clinic’s Approach of ‘Healing Over Concealing’ Explained
Perth-based clinic LoveBeauty Skin stands as a beacon of transformation and holistic well-being.
Driven by the unwavering belief in the power of “healing over concealing,” Founder Rachel Diaz embarked on a remarkable journey to create a sanctuary for her clients, one that prioritises not just outward appearances, but also the profound connection between mind, body, and skin.
With a team of exceptionally skilled skin therapists and an in-house Holistic Skin Nutritionist, LoveBeauty Skin Clinic is more than just a destination for beauty; it’s a place where clients are guided to unlock the secrets of their skin’s unique condition and, in turn, regain control of their overall health.
Recently, the clinic’s commitment to excellence was celebrated as it won the Salon/Spa/Clinic of the Year Award (5 Treatment Rooms or More) WA/NT for the second consecutive year, solidifying its status as South Perth’s premier skin and beauty haven.
Rachel shares her clinic’s journey and unique approach to holistic health, alongside how the business achieves their successes as a team.
What do you feel is the underpinning reason for the clinic’s success?
LoveBeauty Skin Clinic is at the forefront of a unique and holistic approach to skincare, unlike anything else seen before in Perth! Specialising in mindfulness, facials, and skin optimising dermal + laser treatments, we combine our clinical expertise with relaxation treatments to foster self-care and nervous system regulation. Our primary focus is on reducing cortisol levels, alleviating stress, and enhancing overall wellbeing.
As a holistic skin clinic, we strongly believe in our mantra of ‘healing over concealing.’ Our skin experts go beyond the surface by delving into gut health, hormone balance, and the body’s detoxification pathways concerning skin health and wellness. We have structured onboarding and regular training with our in-house nutritionist to broaden our team’s knowledge, focusing on a deep understanding of gut dysbiosis and its connection to inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and immune/histamine responses. Our commitment to education is also evident through our social media channels, where we regularly share educational skin content with our community.
LoveBeauty has become somewhat of a sanctuary for men and women struggling with skin issues in Perth, including those that have previously taken antibiotics and roaccutane without experiencing clearance. Clients trust us because we truly understand their conditions and support them to achieve long-term, effective results.
The client experience is paramount to us; beginning with a warm welcome, Beauty Chef refreshments on arrival, and a beautiful, calming environment. Affirmation cards are always placed in treatment rooms to set a positive vibe before all facial services. We are constantly seeking ways to enhance our customer service and professional development, because our clients are at the heart of our success.
How do you structure your new client consultations to ensure each client regardless of budget or concerns are being assessed holistically?
Our approach to consultations is thorough and holistic, ensuring that every client receives personalised care, regardless of their budget or skin concerns. We believe in the importance of our comprehensive consultations to better understand each individual’s health, skin history and any underlying causations/ triggers so that we can treat the skin accordingly.
We always start our consultations with a visual assessment, taking clinical imaging with a professional camera and then again with our 3D Observ Skin Analyser, looking into both the epidermis and dermis. We go through our findings with our clients and then investigate their gut and skin symptoms.
If our clients are dealing with gut symptoms such as reflux, bloating, gas, IBS etc, we refer them to see our in-house practitioner to undergo a functional microbiome mapping stool test so that we can see “what’s up with their gut” on paper! Our clients find the microbiome mapping incredibly interesting and, usually, will then bring their families and friends in to get tested too.
During the consult, we assess our clients’ skin concerns, skin goals, budget and set realistic expectations on commitment and consistency to achieve their desired results. Our skin therapists guide our clients to understand the ‘why’ behind our recommendations, so they are able to make informed decisions and look after their skin correctly. After these initial investigations, we are usually able to identify what could be influencing our clients’ problematic skin condition.
At LoveBeauty, I’ve designed our very own take-home skin prescription booklets for clients, enabling our team to educate clients right from their initial appointment, setting them up for success. This booklet is full of important information about inflammatory foods, oils, alcohol and how they interact with our gut, as well as how hormones and blood sugar levels affect the skin.
To make our holistic consultation accessible to all, we’ve made it a one-hour process that can be completely redeemed on products, making it affordable for all clients and encouraging them to invest in their skin care.
Share with us some of your unique approaches that you take with your clients – without giving up the secret recipe of course!
At LoveBeauty, our unique approach revolves around the philosophy that “less is more” when addressing chronic skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema and peri oral dermatitis.
We prioritise barrier health and essential supplementation as a starting point – recommending EFA’s, zinc, slippery elm, vitamin A, vitamin C and pre + probiotics in our Gut Primer and Clear Skin whole food supplements as a baseline to normalise skin function.
To restore skin equilibrium, we focus on lymphatic therapy, working with the circulatory system through compression techniques to deliver oxygen and essential nutrients to skin cells. This approach detoxifies and nourishes the skin on a cellular level, supporting our natural bodily processes.
LED light therapy is another cornerstone of our approach. We often use the red and NIR wavelengths to complement our other therapies, enhancing skin results significantly.
For clients dealing with congestion, acne, sluggish detoxification pathways and autoimmune disorders, we recommend our infrared sauna prior to our skin treatments. This not only reduces inflammatory antibodies but also promotes cellular energy and helps eliminate impurities via the sweat. Following the sauna, clients can have a shower in our private bathroom to enjoy cold contrast therapy.
We prioritise microbiome testing as it’s been proven time and time again in-clinic that gut health is skin health! Through this extensive in-clinic experience, we’ve consistently found gut dysbiosis in our clients. Identifying this link has been transformative in our results, and clients are always so grateful when we are able to connect the dots between their gut health and skin condition.
