O&M & Pulitano bring high fashion hair
When Original Mineral (O&M) were reviewing opportunities for Australian Afterpay Fashion Week (AAFW23), Founder Jose Bryce Smith knew just the man to call on – John Pulitano. Starting her career in Paddington, just down the road from Pulitano, Bryce Smith has long admired his work, cheering Pulitano on as he’s grown to become one of Australia’s most esteemed hair experts and top editorial stylists. So, it made sense that he led the hair direction for some of the biggest shows of the week, including Gail Sorronda, Verner, and the 20th Anniversary Show for the iconic Gary Bigeni.
Pulitano is a master at capturing the essence of a designer’s vision and translating this into hair direction that is both striking by itself but complimentary to the designs, and this year has been no exception. For Gail Sorronda’s first Fashion Week show in eight-years, Pulitano effortlessly encapsulated Sorrdona’s gothcore vision with an old-world regal look, calling on O&M’s Style Guru and Frizzy Logic Shine Spray to give moisture and shine to the wet looking finish, held in place with the iconic O&M Original Queenie Hairspray. https://originalmineral.com.au/products/frizzy-logic-shine-spray-100ml?_pos=1&_sid=454ea3dd5&_ss=r
Entitled ‘Lost Resort’, VERNER’S Resort ’24 show leveraged the traditional elements of a classic Resort collection, but with a twist, paying homage to the ever-changing Australian climate. Pulitano homed in on this, leveraging a mixture of both semi wet and wet textures to complement the encapsulation of Mother Nature at work.
However, the jewel in the crown for Pulitano’s hair direction was the 20th Anniversary Show for Gary Bigeni, crafting a look that reflected Bigeni’s fashion legacy, “We created one hair look to interpret the individuality of each model. It’s sexy, interesting, and shows the maturity and evolution of my brand” says Bigeni. O&M’s Surf Bomb Sea Spray was at the helm of the hair, helping bring an effortlessly put together maturity to the direction.
