The Most Booked Beauty Treatments for 2024 Reveal Lean Toward Traditional Salon Services

A survey released by American salon, spa and fitness booking platform, Vagaro reveals an ongoing preference for traditional salon services as those most booked in 2024*.

The Vagaro 2025 Annual Vantage Report recognised hair salon, beauty, and spa industries as having been most impacted “by growing consumer demand for self-care and wellness, seasonal fluctuations, and the digital transformation of business practices” in the last 12 months.

Despite any shifts in the sector, the most sought after services were those traditionally available in a beauty salon or spa environment. Such services included facials, waxing, nail treatments, and brow & lash services.

Beating out facials, and second to massage as the most booked spa service, was waxing. 61% of waxing searches were for Brazilian waxes, topping the list as the most popular wax service for 2024.

Skincare Facials tallied 27 million bookings, making up a sizable portion of all booked spa services. Hydrafacial – a branded facial experience – made up 55% of facial searches.

Laser Hair Removal topped the MedSpa category, securing 3 million appointments between January and September last year. Cryotherapy was also listed as an offering growing in popularity, with 652,000 sessions booked.

Ongoing demand for nail treatments was evident in the form of 21 million appointment bookings in 2024. Pedicures topped the leaderboard as the most sought-after service, taking up 59% of searches on the Vagaro Marketplace. Manicures followed suit, accruing 41% of searches. Acrylic tallied 300,000 bookings, followed by Gel with 170,000 bookings. Hard Gel and Polygel services were also flagged as trending nail services, representing 39% and 25% of searches respectively.

Eyelash services accrued a mammoth 23 million appointment bookings and 71% of searches last year, which Vigaro reported was largely fueled by the popularity of Lash Extensions specifically (making up 62% of searches).

A further 18 million appointments were secured for services that involved the brows. 40% of searches were for brow waxing alone, with Tinting and Lamination following behind with 22% and 11% of searches respectively.

Vagaro also noted that 54% of business owners offered special promotions during this time, 45% of which put on themed events, and 22% of businesses holding festive giveaways designed to attract new clients and reward loyal ones.
