The Versatile Device Offering Plasma Treatments – But Not As You Know It
NeoGen Plasma generates plasma from medical grade nitrogen gas to create a controlled thermal energy delivered directly to the skin. As a result, the device offers tightening, resurfacing, and regenerative effects.
PB spoke with Nuala Briggs, Medical Aesthetician and Clinical Director at NB Skin in East Fremantle, to learn about her experience treating clients using NeoGen Plasma:
Why did you decide to add NeoGen Plasma to your clinic?
“I wanted something for resurfacing treatments, but I wasn’t keen on the idea of using lasers. I have used Plasma Pen since 2018, but NeoGen Plasma [distributed in Australia by Costec] wasn’t plasma as I knew it. The big difference is how I can use the machine and the different types of treatments we can offer – low energy with no downtime and multiple treatments, or one-and-done with high energy.
We’ve added NeoGen Plasma facials to the clinic as a mixture of high-tech and traditional relaxing techniques. This speaks to my clients who want to experience high-end technology but want a pampering experience, too. I feel that it’s a better option for rejuvenation, as it offers so many applications in one. We can also tackle difficult conditions such as skin aging, crepey skin around the arms, sagging skin around the knees, solar keratosis… you name it, we can do it.”
What are the advantages of working with this device, over other plasma devices?
“It’s the outstanding safety and versatility that I love. The amount of peer-reviewed clinical papers was part of my decision-making, and that it’s ARTG-listed and used by medical practices around the world. It’s built in the United Kingdom and is continually being re-evaluated, which endorsed my feelings of trust in the technology.
The science of plasma is the same, but the execution and way you use NeoGen Plasma are completely different. NeoGen Plasma penetrates the architecture of the skin and treats every part of the area, so there are no missed or fractionated areas. When it comes to using high energy, it’s like you have two systems in one: full resurfacing without complications and/or lower risks. Another big advantage is that NeoGen Plasma allows for penetration of particular active ingredients, so you can introduce them to increase results.”
How do you introduce NeoGen Plasma treatments to your clients?
“One of the biggest considerations when purchasing equipment is how you are going to introduce it to clients and how will it be perceived. One of the major selling points is that it doesn’t hurt like skin needling, radiofrequency needling, intense pulsed light (IPL), etcetera. NeoGen Plasma has multiple energies so I can treat even the most delicate and thin skin to build up collagen and elastin.
I have found that once people try it on a small area and see what it can do, they invariably go onto a larger area. If there are objections because of the price, what I’m inclined to do is offer NeoGen Plasma first, then follow on with other technologies such as skin needling as a maintenance program.”
