Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop launches in New Zealand
From Australia to Aotearoa, the successful international franchise Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop has arrived in New Zealand. With two locations confirmed in Auckland—Glenfield Mall open now and Sylvia Park opening late April—the franchise is set to become the go-to destination for men’s grooming as it expands.
With over 100 locations across, the barbershop’s franchise model business has seen huge growth across Canada and Australia. Starting with the two Auckland locations, the team has an ambitious goal of growing nationwide, with their sights already set on further locations around the country and arms open to conversations with potential franchisees.
Tommy Gun’s unique blend of classic barbershop services and modern, cutting-edge techniques has garnered a cult following among men looking for a high-quality grooming experience. Every Tommy Gun’s visit delivers a traditional barbershop cut or shave, coupled with modern luxuries including in-store digital and app-based self-check-in, a complimentary beverage, TVs built into the mirrors, wash and scalp massage, and hot towel finish.
New Zealand men’s grooming brand, Triumph & Disaster, will join the line-up of retail partners, alongside world-leading brands Uppercut and American Crew.
For those looking to kickstart their barbering career or upskill, Tommy Gun’s provides extensive training opportunities via their bespoke training school, Barber Temple, led by world-class barbers and educators. In New Zealand they are excited to be raising the bar in an industry with no requirement for formal training or industry standards.
“We’re thrilled to bring our unique brand of men’s grooming to New Zealand,” said Tommy Gun’s NZ Managing Director, Ghanum Taylor. “Our mission is to provide the ultimate grooming experience that combines the traditional barbershop vibe with the latest grooming trends, all while using the best products on the market. We plan to make a big impact to kiwi men across the country with our barbershops and work in the local communities.”
Tommy Guns’ philosophy is to be more than a barbershop, they are about helping men (young and old, no matter what their background) be better men. They walk the walk by training up young people to become amazing barbers and give them a purposeful career path.
“There are so many young people who are so talented, driven and just need the right opportunity to have a fantastic career path. We believe Tommy Gun’s is that career path …and I can’t wait to be a part of that journey for young men in New Zealand,” adds Taylor.
A testament to their values, Tommy Gun’s works with local communities supporting grassroots and high-profile sports teams and their work with charity partners. In Australia they have a longstanding partnership with Movember and have helped to raise over $114,000 since 2016. Locally, they have already started supporting Auckland City Mission, a charity that aligns with their values and mission to help men be better men by providing housing, food, healthcare and of course, dignity to those in need, many of whom are male.
