In exciting news for Dyson fans, the brand revealed at Paris Fashion Week AW25 that its highly anticipated Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer—their most powerful, lightweight and precise model to date—will soon hit shelves.

Set to launch in Australia and New Zealand imminently, the innovative hairdryer was previously exclusive to professionals since debuting at Paris Fashion Week last year. It has quickly become a staple in the styling kits of top talents including Sam McKnight, Eugene Souleiman and Lacy Redway, who praised its enhanced manoeuvrability, comfort and accuracy.

Matthew Collins, Dyson’s Global Styling Ambassador, who collaborated with Dyson engineers over five years, shares, “This is the best blow dryer I have ever used.” Stylist Anthony Turner, who worked backstage at the Issey Miyake W24 show, calls the device “a magic wand” while stylist Gary Gill notes its striking design, stating, “At first glance, it is visually astonishing, even strange. But I like it. I felt like it could never work, but it’s the complete opposite.”

The advanced hairdryer features a new streamlined heater technology, the Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor and intelligent Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors in its attachments, which communicate with the dryer to optimise airflow and temperature automatically.

In addition to the launch of the Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer, Dyson will introduce a Styling Menu at select Dyson Demo flagship stores globally, offering beauty enthusiasts a chance to explore this year’s trending hairstyles, guided by Dyson styling experts. While New Zealand is yet to have a flagship store (with the nearest located in Sydney), the Styling Menu still serves up on-trend hair inspiration, informed by predictions from 50 Global Styling Ambassadors. The five signature styles featured on the menu are a textured wave bob, S-shaped curls, sleek straight, halo curls and soft twist-outs.

The introduction of the Dyson Supersonic r™ into the range means that consumers can now choose from three options; the original Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer, the Dyson Supersonic Nural™ hair dryer for scalp care, and the new Dyson Supersonic r™ hair dryer for precision drying and styling. 

The Professional edition, equipped with a longer cord, in Vinca Blue/Topaz, will still be available via Dyson’s “For Business” website and select trade distributors. A new colourway featuring vibrant copper and solid steel violet is also slated to debut in the Professional range. The original Dyson Supersonic™ Professional hair dryer will remain available for stylists, along with the Dyson Corrale™ straightener.

Priced at $849 NZD, the Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer will be available in two stunning new colours: Ceramic Pink, inspired by the orient of a pearl, and Jasper Plum, reminiscent of the rare purple jasper gemstone (exclusive to dyson.co.nz).
