Sephora debut first New Zealand store
Sephora’s first ever New Zealand store is here and open for business! The store opened on Saturday, July 20, with opening festivities that spanned weeks beforehand with a hype bus and opening party. The hugely anticipated store debuted on 152 Queen St, Auckland, with a 450sqm flagship location, piquing the extreme interest of beauty consumers and professionals alike.
The Sephora black and white striped double-decker Beauty Bus travelled the country for the days before the launch to offer customers the chance to experience and trial products. The bus first opened its doors in Cristchurch, and then carved a path through Wellington, Hamilton and finally Auckland. When it finally arrived, it set up shop for two days to give customers a taste of Sephora before the grand opening.
On launch day, the opening party kicked off from 7am, with two of Auckland’s most popular DJs, Soraya and Andy Heart Throb, spinning tunes. The lucky and dedicated first 500 people who arrived took home a Zoeva Premiere Eyeshadow Palette worth $49, while a multitude of samples were handed out at the door for the over 800 patrons who queued up. The party also included coffee, a crepe cart and delicious treats that largely paid tribute to the beauty brand’s French heritage.
Sephora has been available for shipping to New Zealand beforehand, but this new brick and mortar store ushers in a new phase for New Zealand’s beauty obsessed. With a variety of brands for customers to try and a never-ending range for beauty aficionado’s to obsess over, the Sephora wave has finally hit new Zealand, and we are living for it!
