Antipodes wins Harper’s Bazaar beauty award
New Zealand brand Antipodes’ newest product, Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous eye cream, was awarded Best Eye Cream (Antioxidant) at the Bazaar Beauty Awards held in Shanghai in late 2019.
“What an honour to receive this prestigious award,” says Elizabeth Barbalich, CEO and founder of Antipodes. “Harper’s Bazaar is the magazine on the coffee tables of it-girls from Shanghai to New York and Paris to Dubai. To be recognised with this award is a dream come true.”
The evening ceremony was held at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong. The red carpet was filled with elite celebrities and KOLs, including livestreamer Austin Li, and influencers Xiao Mao and Jia Hong.
“We are thrilled that Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous eye cream has received this illustrious award – it further reinforces the significant impact of the product in China since launch only months ago,” says Barbalich. “[It] has been developed for a new type of consumer – those seeking clean, vegan, and scientifically proven products,” Mrs Barbalich said.
In 2018, the online market for eye creams in China exceeded 4.7 billion yuan. “China is a powerful market, one of our most important,” says Barbalich. “We have an eye on the future of Antipodes in China, especially online. We intend to develop further products to meet the needs of Chinese consumers.”
The luxurious, illuminating eye cream promises to help brighten and perfect the delicate skin of the eyes. It contains real 23K gold flakes which impart a warm glow as they bring calm to stressed skin. Revolutionary antioxidant Vinanza grape helps brighten the under-eye area and address pigmentation while vitamin C from New Zealand superfruit – kiwifruit – helps moisturise and soften fine lines.
The Bazaar Beauty Awards are held every year by Harper’s Bazaar China as a celebration of the most popular and effective products among readers and editorial staff. Winners are shortlisted based on recommendations and reviews from thousands of consumers and social media influencers, with winners selected by the magazine’s beauty editors.
