Danny Pato’s success streak continues with prestigious Big Shot award
New Zealand’s own Danny Pato, co-founder of D&M Hair Design, has won a Big Shot Award.
The winners were announced at a gala on Sunday 20th of August, taking place at JW Marriott in Austin, Texas. With over 100 countries participating, One Shot Hair Awards are considered the largest and most prestigious hairdressing competition globally.
Pato’s Pride Collection was awarded the Big Shot Texture Award for the international category. The win follows a host of awards, including New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year for the seventh time. At the Australian Hair Industry Awards, the acclaimed hairdresser was also inducted into the Dennis Langford Hall of Fame for his work and commitment to the industry.
The international competition is open to any licensed hairdresser via two overall categories: Hot Shot and Big Shot. The former, is all about real hair transformations, while the latter—Big Shot—is dedicated to editorial collections created in a studio. These nominations are judged not only on hair alone but makeup, wardrobe, photography, and the overall mood of the shoot.
In an Instagram post, Pato thanked the creative team behind the winning collection.
In 2006, Pato opened D&M Hair Design in Ponsonby with his long-time friend, Michael Sisaengrath. Soon relocated to larger premises just next door, D&M has gone onto become of New Zealand’s most esteemed hair salons.
Still working on the salon floor today, Pato is also a Davines International Artist and has worked with the sustainable haircare brand for over a decade.
Congratulations Danny Pato and team!
