Rising star and Lancôme NZ director of artistry Lochie Stonehouse is always one to watch, and at this year’s New Zealand Fashion Week, led beauty teams for top shows Hailwood and Kathryn Wilson.

For local fashion legend Hailwood’s 21st birthday show, Stonehouse created a strong eye look for the runway, to represent “strength and a mature femininity”.

To create the eye, Stonehouse says: “begin by drawing the eye on, using Khol Hypnose Waterproof Eyeliner in ‘01 Noir’ on the bare lid like an eyeshadow primer. It’s jet-black in colour, and dries down to become waterproof so results in a really long-wearing eye base.

“Once you have created the perfect shape with the pencil, buff out the edges with a firm eyeshadow brush to soften into a smoky look. Using the Hypnose Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Brun Adore 03’ press the palette’s black eyeshadow over the eye to further deepen. Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to soften out the edges.

“Run Grandiose Eyeliner across the lash line to deepen and anchor, then finish with a lick of Grandiose Extreme Mascara.”

For Kiwi shoe queen Kathryn Wilson’s show Stonehouse created a flawless, barely-there makeup look inspired by Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw.

“Use Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation Stick in ‘05’ over the whole eye, blending up and over the crease,” he says. “Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, make sure the edges are soft and diffused. The colour is a beautiful creamy brown, with a soft 70s ochre undertone.”

“Using the Hypnose Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Brun Adore 03’ press the lightest eyeshadow shade on the high point on the eyelid. The highly metallic foil-texture creates more dimension, and opens up the eye for a fresh and youthful feel.

Next, apply an extremely thin (barely there) liquid eyeliner by using Grandiose Eyeliner, before finishing with Grandiose Extreme Mascara for fluffy and full lashes.”
