Your NZ Hair & Beauty Expo 2023 recap
For the professional beauty industry, the 2023 NZ Hair & Beauty Expo was the place to be over the 17th and 18th of June. From hairdressers and salon owners to skin experts and beauty therapists, the event welcomed hundreds through the doors to discover the latest in technology, business, products and more.
For the first time, this year’s Hair & Beauty Expo took place at a new location, the Viaduct Events Centre. Shaughan Woodcock, owner and director of SDW Events (NZ Hair & Beauty Expo), said the new venue was a huge success and it was great to see attendees embracing the surrounding locale, too.
A testament to the annual expo’s success was its uplift in traffic. “We saw a 15 percent increase in attendee numbers,” said Woodcock. “The engagement and energy was high, with many attendees opening accounts, purchasing, sampling products and of course, buying.”
From the exhibition hall to the education arena hosted by Wilhelmina Shrimpton, and beyond, attendees wound around the expo experiencing the latest across a wide range of categories including barbering, hair colour, haircare, skincare, brows and lashes, nails, laser technology, training, salon and spa software, and business updates. Food trucks and coffee carts were also on hand to fuel attendees as they connected and learned.
“In addition to the turnout and all the new products and advanced technology showcased, support from international industry leaders, like Lucy Kuper of Biologi, was a key highlight.”
The high energy of the crowd, the clear willingness to learn, and feelings of connection permeated throughout the weekend, leaving the industry on a high and already eager for the next year’s instalment.
