Get the Look: Gigi Hadid Met Gala 2024
If there’s one name synonymous with dominating the Met Gala, it’s undoubtedly Gigi Hadid. The supermodel has graced every Met Gala since 2015, consistently earning a spot among the best dressed each year.
In line with the 2024 Met Gala’s theme, ‘Garden of Time’, Gigi dazzled in a breathtaking Thom Browne white gown adorned with 3D floral appliqués, which took a team of more than 70 to apply by hand.
Every detail of Gigi’s look exuded old Hollywood glamour from her classic red lip to voluminous blonde bob.
Ahead, celebrity hairstylist Laura Polko, shares a step-by-step guide to recreating Gigi’s Marilyn Monroe-inspired ‘do.
Get the look
Laura began by prepping Gigi’s hair with Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo and the newly launched KBOND20 Power Masque – an innovative bond building treatment, which delivers five times stronger hair in just one application.
Style Preparation
1. Added density and volume using Joico JoiWhip Foam (mousse).
2. Enhanced texture and root lift with Joico Body Shake.
3. Blow-dried the hair using a small round brush.
4. Pinned the hair at the base at the back of the head.
Styling
1. Created a deep left side parting at the front.
2. Secured hot rollers on the left side away from the face.
3. On the top and right side, pin hot rollers on base for volume.
4. Set the style with Joico Power Spray.
5. Once cooled, release the rollers and finish the lengths using a one-inch curling iron.
Face-Framing
1. Pin-curled the hairline to achieve an s-wave.
2. On the left side, pinned curls towards the face.
3. On the right side, pinned curls away from the face.
4. On the front and top, pinned curls forward for maximum volume.
5. Sprayed with Joico Flip Turn and allowed to cool.
6. Removed the pin curls, brushed through, and set the style with hands.
7. Finished with a final spritz of Joico Flip Turn to lacquer the look in place.
