The number one selling tanning brand globally celebrates its 10th anniversary

The number one selling self-tan brand globally, Bondi Sands, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month.

Established in 2012, Bondi Sands has grown to the number one self-tan brand globally, including in New Zealand. Since its launch, the brand has diversified into suncare and skincare, with one product sold every three seconds worldwide.

The idea for Bondi Sands was born when co-founder Blair James was running a spray tan salon. Doing close to 150 applications a day, the salon was at maximum capacity. The only option for clients who missed out was to apply a substandard DIY self-tan. This prompted James to create his own salon-quality spray tans and self-tanning products.

From four products on shelf in 2012 to the number one self-tanning brand in the world, stocked in over 43,000 stores globally, Bondi Sands has come a long way in 10 years. Last year, Bondi Sands made its first foray into skincare, with its Eye Spy Vitamin C and Caffeine Eye Cream going onto become a viral TikTok sensation.

The cult brand has become a go-to in beauty routines, counting big names as part of its Bondi Babes tribe including, Kylie Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski, James Charles, and Steph Claire Smith.

Today, Bondi Sands is still one of the leading brands in professional spray tanning too. The professional range is distributed in New Zealand by Arrow Beauty.
